Alex Daechsel, MA, RP (Qualifying)

Hello there! My name is Alex (she/her) and I am a licensed Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).  I offer a safe and non-judgmental space to those who are wanting to work through life’s challenges and barriers, and will collaborate with you on your treatment goals.

I am passionate about working with individuals struggling with anxiety and its many forms including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and panic disorder.  I use psychoeducation to discuss the nature of anxiety and its purpose, and can help you understand why your anxiety is present.  I will work with you to determine how we can help minimize heightened anxiety so you can get back to feeling more grounded and in control.

I use a person-centered approach in my work, meeting you where you are at. My main approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. My interest in self-compassion is a common thread that I weave into our work in order to assist in developing ways to be kind and understanding of ourselves.  I believe that insight can be a powerful tool in developing our self-awareness and the ways in which we relate to ourselves and others.  Together we can work on adding more tools to your toolbox to help navigate challenges, enhancing your wellbeing and ways of coping.

I emphasize building a strong therapeutic relationship that focuses on trust, warmth, and collaboration.  Working with adults aged 18+, my main areas of focus include anxiety, stress management, and relational issues, and am proficient in working with you in areas that are presenting challenges or needing some attention.

Outside of work, you will usually find me spending time with friends and family, trying my hand at yoga and pilates, or cozying up with a cup of tea and my favourite Netflix show!
